Danni and Support Dog Ruby's Joyful Journey with their Custom Dog Basket 🐶
Wanted to ride with Ruby 🐾
Danni, who lives with hemiplegia and several psychological disorders loves going on a ride with her support dog, Ruby.
She bought a new electric tricycle because the one she had previously was stolen from her yard a few months ago.
She was seeking a unique solution, custom assistive technology to have a basket installed somewhere on the front of the bike. She wanted the basket on the front so that where she could have eye contact with Ruby while she’s riding.

Danni had looked at ‘off the shelf’ basket options, however none to date were suitable for her needs. Freedom Solutions volunteer, Ian, came to help her with a Unique Solution!
Ian was an architect throughout his career and became a Bicycle Mechanic, so this project was perfect for him!
A simple solution for major impact 🚲🐾
Danni provided Ian with her own wicker basket for Ruby to sit in comfortably while Danni cycled her trike. Ian searched for a suitable basket rack to fit the wicker basket. He found an adjustable front basket rack that exactly suited the trike, so he attached the rack to the trike, then the wicker basket to the rack. Now Danni can go for a ride with her beloved dog, Ruby!
No commercially available product met Danni's needs.

However, Ian, our volunteer in Victoria, came to help her with Unique Solution!
